Posted on 17 January 2017
Behold mortals!! I present to you the wonder root! Put turmeric on everything, in everything and around it too! Not just for the bliss ... but because it's got a smokey, earthy goodness that makes everything.... ahhhh, better.
"Researchers are finding mounting evidence that an anti-inflammatory compound in a common kitchen spice might help reduce symptoms of major depressive disorder (MDD). Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, the Indian spice that imparts the yellow coloring to foods like curry, butter, mustard, and cheese. It has long been a mainstay of Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine as a treatment for various ailments.1"
Tea vs. Tisane? What's the big diff?
A tisane is different from a tea - main difference is the caffeine. All teas have caffeine. The amount varies from a low of 35 milligrams per eight-ounce cup for green tea to a high of 90 milligrams for black. Herbal infusions, on the other hand, are caffeine-free, making them ideal for any time or even bed time sipping ... thusly, this brew is in the Tisane family of potions! So drink up :-)
BLISSED OUT TISANE
Yield: 2 servings
Total Time: 10
INGREDIENTS1 (1-inch) piece of ginger, grated
2 Tablespoons raw, organic turmeric (OR fresh root grated)
2 tablespoons organic raw honey
2 Pinches freshly ground organic black pepper
In a medium sauce pan
add ginger and turmeric to 2.5 cups of water, allow to come to a boil, then turn the heat to low and simmer and stir occasionally for 3 minutes.
Take the pan off the heat, strain out the mixture into a large Mason jar or 2 tea cups - add juice of 1 lemon (distributed evenly between the tea cups if you are spitting it), and add the honey, finish with a pinch of black pepper, mix it up and drink it up!
